The Connecticut Farm Landscape: Open Space and Historic Buildings
The Litchfield Historical Society and the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation are sponsoring a two-day symposium that will
investigate how the structures and landscapes of Connecticut farms
reflect deeply rooted New England folkways and traditions. The program
will explore ways in which communities are working to preserve open
space and historic farm buildings through legislative, economic and
grassroots initiatives. We will also devote a day to the history and
mystique of the quintessential icon of the New England farm landscape:
the timber-framed barn. Participating in the symposium are two of New York State's most well respected barn preservation and restoration experts: L. Andrew Nash and Richard Lazarus.
